DEXUS Property Group is pleased to announce Bluetrain will relocate to a new site on the upper level at Southgate, with the revitalised eatery scheduled to open for trade in early 2013.
Bluetrain has established itself as the ‘people’s café’ for well over 20 years within Southgate. The revitalised eatery will continue to offer the same unique experience but with greater choice and distinct dining zones including a restaurant, a café, a bar, an artisan bakery and brewed coffee from Blue Train’s specially imported coffee roasting facilities. With all this Bluetrain is destined to be ‘Melbourne’s meeting place’ for all occasions.
The Bluetrain experience will be a post-modern punk rock/jazz funk fusion that exudes urban sophistication. The design is a blending of materials such as galvanised piping, jagged uplifts of wood panelling and a steel aesthetic reminiscent of a 1990’s warehouse party.
If the original Bluetrain was once the cooler older brother, then its upcoming incarnation will impress. Think city laneway verve fused with contemporary dining and here you’ll have a meeting place that echoes Bluetrain’s vibrant heritage and surrounds.
Newly appointed head chef Jay Sinclair has extensive experience spanning two continents, having worked in restaurants such as Bella, GPK and Euro in New Zealand, White Rabbit in Brighton, and Monza in Perth. Sinclair’s creativity and flair in the kitchen creates an ‘Aussie Fusion’ menu for Bluetrain. Blending multi-cultural influences with good old fashioned fare, the menu will continue to evolve with Melbourne’s discerning tastes and promises to satisfy.
As part of Bluetrain’s revitalised offer they will also provide a full food service to Southgate Cinema patrons. Guests will be able to sit back and enjoy a fully catered cinema experience including their favourite movie snacks with an innovative twist.
