Celebrate Southgate Tasting Plates

Taste a range of delicious tasting plates from Southgate’s many restaurants and cafes to celebrate the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival’s Riverside Opening Weekend Saturday 3 – Sunday 4 March 2012. Collect a Southgate passport and try three or more tasting plates for your chance to win a private cinema screening and function for you and 20 friends!

Southgate’s restaurants and cafes will be offering a selection of seasonal tasting plates celebrating their unique cuisine throughout the opening weekend. Enjoy the riverside entertainment and wander through the centre to rediscover Southgate, Melbourne’s favourite dining destination on the banks of the iconic Yarra River.

Entertainment Schedule
Saturday 3 March
12noon
Tasting Plates commence in centre.

11 am – 2pm Roving entertainment commences including Phil Carroll, a talented waiter and accordionist, and comedian Luigi da Chef, an Italian chef with the most explosive recipe for magic!

2pm – 6pm  Chef demonstrations on the main stage.
2pm – PURE SOUTH
See Head Chef Dwayne Bourke (Sat or Sous Chef Phillip Latta (Sun) create their Tasmanian Ocean Trout, with Tasmanian organic quinoa, orange macadamia crumble and orange butter.
3pm - P.J.O’BRIEN’S IRISH PUB
Learn how to cook and present mussels in a variety of sauces, as presented by local PJ’s chef, Jemma Haladene.
4pm – TUTTO BENE
Tutto Bene Head Chef Niko Pizzimenti presents Venus and Poseidon theme on their famed risotto. Recreate the ocean experience where wild black rice and fresh local seafood are merged for a modern take on a classic italian dish.
5pm – WAGAMAMA
Join Head Chef Scott Davis for a Teppan demonstration, demonstrating a range of techniques such as how to cook yakitori and ramen noodles.

6pm – 10pm Roving entertainment on the promenade including the Phil Carroll Duo and BBQ Bruce, the most renowned culinary expert on Australia’s BBQ on stilts.

Sunday 4 March
11am
Roving entertainers BBQ Bruce and and Flambe the Chef Magician, who’s kitchen and culinary skills include fire eating, juggling razor sharp kitchen utensils to name a few.

2pm – PURE SOUTH
